Anti-Corrosion Treatment Process and Service Life Improvement for Clinching Fasteners

Anti-corrosion performance of clinching fasteners directly affects equipment service life. Electrochemical corrosion at the contact between fasteners and sheet metal is a key risk factor.

1. Comparison of Main Anti-Corrosion Processes

Electro-galvanizing is low-cost and common for indoor use. Nickel plating offers better wear resistance. Dacromet coating provides over 500 hours of salt spray resistance, ideal for outdoor and humid environments.

2. Compatibility with Sheet Metals

Carbon steel plates are compatible with all processes. Stainless steel only needs passivation. Aluminum plates require cyanide-free zinc plating to avoid galvanic corrosion.

3. Process Notes for Coated Fasteners

Enlarge hole size slightly according to coating thickness. Adjust pressing pressure for Dacromet parts to prevent slipping. Control coating adhesion to avoid peeling during clinching.
