Process Optimization and Matching Fastener Selection Specification for Aluminum Sheet Clinching

Aluminum is softer than cold rolled steel, so standard steel clinching parameters always result in bulging and peeling problems on aluminum chassis and new energy shells.

1. Optimized Hole Diameter

Reduce hole size by 0.1~0.15mm for aluminum compared with carbon steel to cut excessive interference deformation.

2. Lower Press Force

Decrease pressing pressure by 15%~20% and adopt slow pressing stroke to prevent hole tearing.

3. Special Fastener for Aluminum

Low-profile clinch nuts with mild serration are recommended for thin aluminum sheet to improve combination effect.

4. Push-out Force Test

The qualified push-out load of aluminum clinching is around 70% of carbon steel benchmark, adjust fastener type if test value is insufficient.
